ANNA PAVLOVA’S HISTORY

Born in St. Petersburg in a family of poor peasants. She declared that her father died when she was two years old. It may have been illegitimate, and biographers speculatethat their parents could be Jews, explaining his desire not to talk much about his paternal inheritance. When I was eight was rejected by the Imperial Ballet School for not having enough age. But twoyears later was admitted and remained there until the age of sixteen. Pavel Gerdt, Christian Johansson and Eugenia Sokolova whom were trained in classical ballet. Then danced at the Mariinsky Theatre.In the early years of the Ballets Russes Sergei Diaghilev worked briefly before founding his own company and presented worldwide.

In 1909 he toured Europe with Sergei Diaghilev's ballets and twoyears later formed his own company. Joined choreographic skills and gifted actress. No creative innovations contributed. He excelled mainly in the interpretation of the romantic ballets. In 1919, duringa tour of Mexico, Pavlova was one of the first classical dancers run the Jarabe Tapatio, wearing clothing from china Puebla.

Pavlova changed forever the ideal of the dancers. In the 1890s, it wasexpected of the dancers of the Mariinsky Theatre that were technically strong, and this meant, usually, have a powerful body, muscular and compact. Pavlova was thin, delicate, ethereal appearance,perfect for romantic roles as Giselle. His feet were extremely arched, so much so that reinforced their pointe shoes adding a piece of hard leather soles to support and flatten the body of the shoe.
