DAYS, MONTHS, YEARS

Cuando hablamos de los días de la semana usamos ’on’ con los días.
I don’t work on Saturday.

Con los meses,decimos ’in’:
We go on holiday in August
Si hablamos de una fecha, usamos ’on’.
My birthday is on July 2nd.

Con los años, los decimos de dos en dos:
1979 - Nineteen, seventy-nine
Con ceros, decimos:
1909 - Nineteen, oh-nine
1800 - Eighteen hundred.
Hasta ahora, para los 2000, decimos, por ejemplo, ’two-thousand seven’ o ’two-thousand and seven’.

EL VERBO ’TO BE’

Es el único con tres formas en presente. Se utiliza tanto para decir ’ser’ como ’estar’.
I am
You, we, they are
He, she, it is

La forma negativa es con ’not’
I am not (I’m not)
You, we, they are not (aren’t)
He, she it is not (isn’t)

Para hacer la pregunta, el verbo ’to be’ y el sujeto cambian de sitio:
They arehere.
Are they here?
’They’ se usa para decir ’ellos’ y cosas en plural.

Ten cuidado, ya que palabras como ’¿cúal es tu nombre?’ en inglés se dice ’what is your name?’
Cuando se trata de muchas o todas las posibilidades del mundo, se usa ’what’.
