The musical "Allegiance, a new American musical" talks about patriotism, love, family and honor. A historical and epic musical what shows about the Japanese American internment during the SecondWorld War.
During the musical you can appreciate a Japanese family who lives a normal life in a farm in California. When the destiny plays an important role in their lives for the Pearl Harbor attackmany Japanese American people are going to internment camps. Here in the internment is where you see the principals actions and situations of the musical. First, you see Sammy, the main character of themusical who has many dreams and goals in his life; and his sister, Kei who takes care a lot of him every time during the musical. Also you see Tatsuo Kimura, Sammy's father who is a worker, smart andproudest person. Sammy tries to change the mentality of everyone in the Japanese American internment camps for be better Americans, he organized a dance,

Baseball games, etc. But, is logical,many people didn't like this, because the government keeps his lands and his liberty in his power. One of the Japanese American, called Frankie came to be a trouble maker together, other JapaneseAmericans, including, Hannah, the nurse who fell in love with Sammy, helps this cause. Sammy in his desperation to impress his father follows Mike Masaoka, a political leader of the Japanese Americans, whois watched like the villain of the musical. Sammy is enrolled in the US Army and then he and other Japanese Americans are going to the battlefield in Europe.
The audiences were moved with every songduring the musical; also, the actors watched sometimes the people when they are singing. But, many people into the audience felt more the musical, because they are Japanese Americans too, and otherpeople felt the musical, because, they are Americans; the musical story is part of the American History.
The final part of the play is wonderful, Sammy finally is an American Hero, but, in his return...
