The Brushless Constant-Voltage Synchronous Alternators 1FC6 are the result of ourexperience for some decades. The range has been extended by some types of Serie 1FC5. Explanation of generator type design
The example below shows what the generator type design mean 1FC6 506 8 1FC6 indicates the generator family. Families are 1FC6 and 1FC5. When the letter J (1FJ6, 1FJ5) stands instand of theletter C it means that the generators with protection degree IP44, IP45, water cooled i.e. provided with closed cooling system With built-in single tube or double tube water / air cooler here involved. 506 indicates the generator size (in B3 version it means that height from the generator support to the shaft centerline is 500 mm) 8 is number of poles ( 4 means 4 poles, 6 means 6 poles, 8 means 8poles,3 means 10 poles and 5 means 12 poles)

General
Generators 1FC6 (1FJ6) to the size 56_ are standard rated and meet technical data in the catalogue. Generators 1FC5 (1FJ5) size 63_ are standard rated and meet technical data in the catalogue. Generator 1FC5 (1FJ5) sizes 71_ and 80_ are made to order and completely meet the customer’s requirements. Depending on this the proper selection ofgenerator size and designing to the requested technical characteristics are effected.

Application The brushless constant-voltage synchronous alternators are of the self-excited type with an electronic voltage regulator integrated in the excitation unit. They are used as mainand standby units in land-based power installations and for ship's electrical systems and can be driven by internal combustion engines or gas, steam and water turbines and electric motors. Construction The alternator comprises the main machine (revolving-field machine with cylindrical rotor and damper winding), exciter (revolving armature machine) and excitation equipment. The excitation power issupplied to the rotor of the main machine via rotating rectifiers. The units have open-circuit cooling. Excitation system The combination of an excitation unit with a thyristor voltage regulator is called a THYRIPART®-excitation system. The excitation unit supplies a load-dependent field current slightly higher than would be required for producing the rated voltage. The regulator variably reducesthe field current as necessary to obtain constant alternator voltage. This method of load-dependent excitation (compounding) results in excellent dynamic response to load switching applications and short-circuits. A block diagram is shown on page 7. Standards and Requirements The alternators conform to applicable IEC requirements, DIN standards and VDE codes and particularly to VDE 0530,Specification for rotating electrical machines. They can also be made to comply with foreign standards and requirements.
