Alzheimer

Is an acute pathology, degenerative, due to a gradual loss of neurons, which cause is not quiteknown. this pathology affects the parts of the brain that controls thinking, memory and language. It is very rare in Young patients and its frequency goes up asthe patient ages.
Alzheimer is an acute pathology because it leads to dementia which is a brain disorder that seriously affects the patients ability to do theirdaily errands.
It is a defect in short memory (where the person forgets events that just happened) and long term memory (where memories are lost) associated tothinking problems, problems of judging and other disorders of brain function an personality disorders.
Approximately 60% of dementias are due to Alzheimer’sdisease. This condition presents a clear relationship with age. Therefore, it is not common amongst young people; it is rare in middle-aged individuals and morecommon as people age reaches an old age. It is estimated that over 40% of people over 85 or older have Alzheimer’s disease.
Its cause is unknown, althoughgenetic factors appear to influence its development. In about 10% of the cases, the disease is hereditary, with autosomal dominant transmission, it is up to 20times more common in populations that are affected by down syndrome (trisomy of chromosome), but it is unknown which other factors influence it’s development.
