INTRODUCTION

This report has the aim of describing the work done in the intensive program

Destination Finland 2010

where the city of Tampere, the town of Ikaalinen,

Seitseminen National Park and the private enterprise Kauppila Farm where visited, analyzed and with the results of theanalysis some proposals were given relying on the objectives and aims defined. The main results, this means, the main proposals given for those destinations in general terms are, in the case of Tampere, to enhance its existing resources and improve the way some tourist activities are taken, such as the Tammerfest or the Theatre Festival and also create some products in order to increase the qualityof the city as a tourist destination and also improve the tourist experience in Tampere. As for Ikaalinen, Kauppila Farm and Seitseminen National Park the main proposal and the most relevant thing to do is to cooperate one with each other, including as well cooperation with Ikaalinen spa in a way that they can take benefits of the synergies. After a deep analysis of the resources, activities andcharacteristics of these places it is recommended to create a global product targeted mainly to groups, as this kind of target audience is very helpful for reducing seasonality. The most appropriate target groups for these destinations are

scholars, yogis and companies.

Phase 1 – Tourist Market
Some conferences and speeches about the tourist market in Finland and also in the region of Tampere where attended. Some important information and data regarding tourism in Finland where given which were taken into account in the fourth phase of the project: pest analysis.

Phase 2 – Fieldwork
Next step was to visit the destinations andenterprises in order to know them deeper. Conclusions about these visites are gathered in the fourth phase of this project: resource audit and DAFO analysis.

Phase 3 – Aim, objectives and target audiences
Having visited the destinations and known them better the aim, objectives and proper target audiences for each of the destinations have been defined.

Phase 4 – Analysis
First of all aresources audit of each destination has been made. With the information given in the conferences and also relying on some other sources we have defined a Pest analysis about the tourist market in Finland, taking into account all the facts which can affect each one of the destinations as well as Kauppila Farm. Finally a DAFO analysis has been made for each of the places we visited.

Phase 5 –Proposals
Relying on the results of the analysis and taking into account the aim, objectives and target audiences defined for each destination we describe each proposal in the following way: Brief explanation to justify why that proposal has been suggested. Description of the proposal. Proposal’s feasibility (technical, economical, social, environmental). Proposal’s impacts (negative and positive)....
