The book The Dark Door is a very capturing book. The very moment you see the cover and read the title it catches your attention and begs you to read it. The cast islively and full of different characteristics plus the story is interesting and mysterious. The book also has a sequel of 2 books that go more in depth to the story and tell you about the background ofa lot of things missed in the first book. But for this review, im going to talk about the first book.
The book's story starts with a boy named Pascal who just moved from Spain to Paris. He has twofriends, Dominique and Michelle. Over the course of the story they meet a wide variety of characters and face a lot of challenges. The turning point of the story is when Michelle gets kidnapped by avampire and Pascal has to go rescue her. At the end, Jules, a friend of Pascal notices that he got bit by the vampire and the book fades into an obvious continuation.
The cast is lively, composed ofmainly six characters. Marcel, a forensic who hides a dark secret, Marguerite, a French cop who's dazzled by the recent murders and Daphne, who is the psychic that helps the cast through a lot ofproblems are only part of the adult cast. The group that the story revolves around for the most part is composed of: Pascal, the main character of the story, Dominique, a French boy who is disabled in awheelchair and Michelle, Pascal's life long crush and friend. The characters are varied and keep you interested in what they are going to do next.
Setting of the book is also quite interesting, asit is a small neighborhood in Paris where strange happenings occur. The main places where the cast goes are the school, Jules' house, the land of the dead and the streets of Paris. The setting isinteresting enough to keep you reeled in the book while on the streets of Paris yet very captivating during the land of dead trips so that it keeps you guessing what is behind the next shadow.
