The clothing for men or women was made of linen, were simple in design, and lightweight for the hot climate.The men that work on the tomb to the pharaoh used a skirt, from halfway above the knee, to halfway below it. Women wore dresses thatusually had straps that tied at the neck or behind the shoulders. Some dresses had short sleeves. Rich people wore sandals made of leather.Animal skins, mainly the leopard skins, were used by priests and by pharaohs. That outfits were found in Tutankhamen's tomb. The manufacture ofclothes was mostly women's work. It was generally done at home, but there were workshops run by noblemen or other men of means.
They care alot about their appearance, the women spent a lot of time bathing, using oils and perfumes in their skin, and using their many cosmeticimplements to apply make-up and style their wigs, used by men and women. Men were always clean-shaven, using razors made from bronze to shavetheir beards and heads.
Men and women used blue and green eye shadow and black eyeliner. The used like a hand mirror highly-polished bronze,a woman would apply khol, a black dye kept in a jar, for the line of her eyes and eyebrows, using a kind of brush or pencil made of a reed.Men also used this eye make-up as well, it wasn't only a fashion but also protected against the eye infections which were common in Egypt.
