Androgynous Men

The article “The Appeal of the Androgynous Man” of Amy Gross describes an androgynous man, which means having both male and female characteristics. He doesn’t have female organs and he’s nothomosexual either. She describes that an androgynous man is someone that can relate to anything or anyone in any time. He’s also a person that can look at something with another point of view, which can besensitive but yet, passionate in his own way. A man that can sit at the table and talk, have a conversation, with both men and women; because an androgynous man is educated, well-mannered, creative,smart and can talk about any topic that is brought to the table. In addition, she describes the non-androgynous man or “all-man” as she calls them as rude, they’re not well-mannered, and they’re notcreative. We can say that they are the total opposite on an androgynous man, and she makes clear that she doesn’t like all-man man.
In several point I disagree with her, she says and I quote “All-menhave absolutely no taste in food, art, books, movies, theatre, dance, how to live, what are good questions, what is funny, or anything else I care about.” Some all-men like to watch sport with their“buddies”, drink beer and maybe sometimes they’re rude, but every man even the rudest or the meanest, has feelings. I think that the author of this article is prejudice in terms of feminism. We cannotgeneralize about one kind of men or women; there are no absolutes in terms of personalities.
I don’t agree with her when she says that all-man men are alike, because actually we live with men thatraise children alone, that stays home and cooks and cleans but at the same time they go out and watch games & drink beer and joke around with his “buddies”. I think that this occurred because welived in different times. Actually men and women work different that they did in the 60’s. We live in a society that the role of the man and woman are very similar and it could be performed either...
