I. INTRODUCTION:

Thesis: Anorexia nervosa has both emotional and social causes which work hand-in-hand.

Now is a potential life-threating eating disorder, an intense fear of becoming obese Anorexia can occur later in life, but it´s most common in girls between the ages of 14— 18 years old. The majority of people who suffer from anorexia begin, with a simple diet that graduallyprogressed to extreme and unhealthy weight loss, Social attitudes that promote very thin body types may also be involved.
These persons who have anorexia commonly have low self-esteem and feelings of helplessness, and they commonly starve themselves in order to gain a sense of control in their lives. And early treatment can be very effective, but if not treated early this can become a lifelongproblem.

Generally, they deny their appetite and enjoyment of food, to say the least they have a distorted sense of reality, especially when it comes to their own appearance; People who become anorexic attribute positive feelings to their ability to control their weight and become preoccupied with food and fear weight gain. Between 5% and 20% of people who develop the disease eventually diesfrom it.
As the body loses muscle mass, it lose heart muscle at a rate preferential rate, so the heart gets smaller and weaker. Women who developed this eating disorder at any early age have a better chance of recovering completely. However, most people with anorexia nervosa will continue to prefer a lower body weight and focused on food and calories.

* Other type is that they eat and then get rid of the calories and weight by self-induced vomiting, excessive laxative use.

About 85% of anorectics develop the disorder between ages 13-18; there is asecondary ultimate of individuals who become anorexic in their 40s.
Originally anorexia was thought to be primarily a disorder of white, upper-middle class girls, but now it`s known to be found among all races and socioeconomic groups.
Women involved in gymnastics, figure skating, dance (especially ballet), acting, and modeling have a much higher rate of anorexia than the general population.
Meninvolved in gymnastics, cross-country running, and modeling also have higher than average rates. The disorder is more often diagnosed in homosexual men than in heterosexuals.
