Género Literario: Dramático – Tragedia
Estructura: Lineal, la obra se va desarrollando poco a poco de manera ordenada y las acciones ocurren trágicamente una tras otra llevando al lector a una reflexión profunda acerca del porque de estas acciones y atrapándolo en la historia pero nunca lo revuelve con tiempos o saltos atrás.
Modalidad: NarraciónReferente Circunstancial: Se desarrolla en las ciudades de Tebas, el Citerón, Corinto y Delfos. La gran parte de la obra se desarrolla en la ciudad de Tebas, en el castillo y sus alrededores. Los personajes pasan mucho tiempo en el mismo lugar porque es en donde se enteran de los hechos, en donde se pelean y en donde Edipo se entera de su fatal pecado cometido sin ninguna malicia.
