Historic Development of the Apartheid in Africa:
Apartheid begun in 1948, the National candidate won the elections. That same year a new law forbids people of color to vote, because in that way thewhite population can secure their political power. Then in 1950 the government introduced a new program that was based in racial discrimination. This program considered marriage between blacks andwhites as a crime; it also established that education should be separated by racial groups, and in 1959 it was prohibited to give college scholarships to people that wasn’t white. All this actions weretaken to make people of color to subjugate to the white race, acting as really cheap workers. This helped the capitalist development of the region.
When we referred to the graphical distribution, theblack population was forced to live in completely separated territories, far from the white population, because of a law that was established in 1950 called Group Areas Act. The territories of theblacks were called “bantustanes”, and they were so poor of the ground productivity, because the best territories were distributed among the white population. Because of this unfair way to distribute theland, whites accomplished to stop the autonomous development of the black race. Under these circumstances the black population had no choice to accept the rules of the game and in order to live,offer the market the only thing they had, their strength in production.
The government’s position strengthens when the groups of white people put their differences aside, when in 1954 the National Partyjoins with the Afrikaner Party.
The creation of the African National Congress was in 1912, this institution was created to defend the civil rights and the interests of the black population, in a nonviolent way.
