Activity 2
1. Abdul Is invited to supper at the home of an American family. The members of the family ask him many personal questions. He feels embarrassed by this. What can he do?
I think thathe should answer because if he is foreign and he is in a house that is not his ownership he could have problems, but in case that the questions were uncomfortable for him, he could ask indiscreetlyto them for talk about something else or start asking the same questions to them in order to make them realize that those questions are embarrassing.
2. At a lecture, Graciela meets theprofessor she will work with in the laboratory. He is very friendly and tells her to call him “Bob”. She feels confused. Does this mean she should always call him by his first name; or only at certain times?I think that it is a sign of friendliness as we reviewed in the past text, so she is able to always call him Bob, although I think that in certain times she should call him professor, for examplewhen being in among other professionals or at class, just to show respect.
3. Mark goes to dinner and is seated at a table with Americans. They are all talking a lot and trying to draw him intothe conversation. He can´t think of anything to say. Should he remain silent?
Mark is supposed to gain trust from that family so if he does not like to look unsocial he has to react quickly and answersomething , whatever related with the conversations, he has to contribute to create an coexistence environment and he has not be silent.
4. Rati enters the beauty parlor to get a haircut. A mancomes to wash and cut her hair. This makes her uncomfortable because she prefers to have a woman fix her hair. Would it be rude for her to walk away?
As well as I know, in many countries women lookfor a men and women equality, so it is discriminating that a man cannot practice his job freely while women are looking for that equality, it would seems impolite if she walks out.
