What is a Report?
A report is a management toolthat formats and sorts data into a manner that is easily identifiable in an organized presentation. Reports present the facts and figures behind your analysis and display them in a manner of yourchoosing.

Before creating a report, do some planning to get an idea of what information you want displayed and how you would like to view it.

•Graphical
– Charts – Graphs
• Tabular/Columnar
– Grouped – Sorted – Calculated

Two Ways to Create Reports in ArcMap
• • ArcMap provides two methods for creating reports: – Using the ArcMapbuilt-in reporting tool – Using Crystal Reports When using the ArcMap built-in reporting tool, you can create reports that are stored directly with your map. Once created, you can add the report toyour map layout and print it. ArcMap also integrates with Crystal Reports from Business Objects. Crystal Reports lets you quickly create presentation-quality reports to include with your map ordistribute to others. The Report Designer provides a graphical interface for controlling the look of your report. NOTE: Crystal Reports is distributed with ArcGIS. To access the reporting tools, you must haveinstalled Crystal Reports. Which of the above methods should you use? For a simple report, try the ArcMap built-in reporting tool; when you need a full-functioned graphical reportbuilding tool, tryCrystal Reports.
