Architecture in mexico

The Architects’ School in Monterrey has the second largest population which implies that the architectural culture has been growing in the last years. But currently the architecturalculture is confused with the images and the scenery whereas some decades before people used to read more about architecture instead of only observing it. There are certain adversesituations in Monterrey and Mexico –like the economic and social crisis- which can be favorable for the architects since they provide them new and original ideas for designs. Apparentlyit shouldn’t exist a difference between a client with private initiative and one of the public sectors (government) but in many occasions they have distinct perspectives of theirprojects.

The architect´s work is devaluated in Mexico; in comparison to USA where the architects are paid as lawyers, i.e. for periods of time (usually monthly) and depending ontheir effort. Actual clients have increased their demand for high quality projects because they have traveled more around the world. This increased demand for high quality structures hasimproved the quality of architectural developments’ in our country.
