INTRO AND DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE
The first course of the Santander Emerging Nations Program was held in Algeria from March 10th to March 16th in the Ecole de Voile d´Alger. The ISAF instructors were: Gael Le Maugen and Pedro Rodriguez. The Santander instructors and coacheswere: Rodrigo Alonso Campos (Laser coach) Diego Claudio Quintana (Physical Trainer) and Maria Del Carmen Vaz (Medical Doctor and Board Coach). The Directors of Santander Emerging Nations Program also participated: Alejandro Abascal (Director of Santander High Level Centre), Gerardo Seeliger and Teresa Lara (ISAF Vicepresident and Course Coordinator). Six countries of Northern Africa participated:Algeria, Kenya, Tunisia, Morocco, Palestine and Sudan with 26 sailors and 19 coaches (List on Appendix 1). The venue, Ecole de Voile, managed by the Federation Argelienne de Voile, had two big rooms for briefing, a medical room for medical exams, a big room for dining with its own kitchen and personnel and finally another big room for gatherings and ceremonies. Facilities such as photocopiers,computers, and projectors were available at the venue, as well as boat parking, big ramp and a room to keep the sails.
ACCOMODATION
Female sailors had two rooms with their own bathrooms on the first floor of the venue. Male sailors were in another Sport Residence with rooms and bathrooms walking distance from the venue. The instructors, coaches and support people were in a nearby hotel. Due to thedistance, they had transportation and all their meals were taken with the sailors and coaches. Breakfast, lunches and dinners were taken at the venue in the dining room. The food was healthy and professionally catered. Departure was very well planned by Algerian Sailing Federation on Saturday and Sunday. Some sailors visited Alger on Saturday morning, before leaving.

EQUIPMENT
Enough equipment was available in the venue and lent by Alger Sailing Federation: We used 26 boats and 8 ribs: Laser Radial Laser Standard Laser 4.7 Boats RSX Ribs
WEATHER
The weather was cool, 14º but sunny. The wind and sea conditions changed from calm and quite to windy and difficult.

THE COURSE
Course scheduled were managed the two first days by Alejandro Abascal, having all sailors and coaches together in the briefing room, explaining general matter about how to be a successful sailor and successful coach. Those two first days everybody went sailing in the afternoon. We had hard wind but it was acceptable and manageable for coaches and sailors, anddebriefing with all the videos taken by the Spanish coaches and ISAF instructors. The remaining five days coaches attended their course in the morning following the ISAF Level Three Coaches course and the sailors worked in land with the physical trainer and the medical doctor. The third and fourth day all the sailors went to Laboratory for medical test. The rest of the mornings they worked in gym withthe physical trainer in the gym, learning the exercises that they practiced every day. And with the Laser coach learning the best way to rig a Laser and the different positions of sails, centre board, ropes, in different moments of the sailing. In fact they received a whole program of physical exercises for Laser sailors and Board sailors. In the afternoons, after lunch, everybody went out sailing...
