Arthur Miller's play, “The Crucible”, is about the persecution of persons falsely accused of being witches in Salem. Many people die in the village after a series of lies and unjust practices. Thereare many acts of love, revenge, and courage. Everything is based in three characters; John Proctor, Elizabeth Proctor, and Abigail Williams.
In this essay I am going to talk about the relationshipbetween them.

Abigail Williams is a young teenager who is influenced greatly by hormones; lastly, many of her lies were to stay out of trouble. It is in every human's nature to defend themselves, andanyone would lie to avoid consequences.
At first, she lied to not be accused of being a witch herself, and she continued to lie to keep people believing her original lie.

She was traumatized as achild by the murder of her parents. This may have caused her to form a negative view of the world, and see death and killing as less terrible than most people.
 As an orphan, the young Abigail seemsto have been deprived of nurturing love and becomes deeply attached to John Proctor, the only man who has given her passion and whom she claims "put knowledge in her heart." 

John Proctor was amarried man and everyone in Salem respected them because of the beautiful family they had. He only uses Abigail as an adventure and Abigail after having had an affair with Mr. Proctor, begins this cycleof lies and accusations in an attempt to get her lover back.

Elizabeth Proctor was a faithful cold woman who has never lied in her life because she was too religious, and when she knew aboutAbigail and his husband, she didn’t say nothing because she was afraid of what people may say.

As a conclusion, the three of them shows us their courage and double personality, John Proctor gives hislife to save his name, dignity, his family and lot of lives.
