ADVENTURES IN DIVING

KNOWLEDGE REVIEW

DEEP DIVING.

1.- List five factores to consider when determining your personal deep-diving depth limit.

1.- the place your diving, the enviroment
2.- training and experience
3.- previous dives the same day
4.- location in case of emergency
5.- buddies training and experience

2.- Explain how to determine if yourequipment is suitable for deep diving.

You have to consider the equipments conditions and if its apropiate for deep diving, check for damage and that its in working conditions.
Also consider your deep dive plan for use of aditional deep dive equipment, like guide lines, extra air supply for decompresion stops, etc.

3.- List five pieces of specialilzed equipment recommended for deepdiving.

1.- reference line
2.- emergency breathing equipment
3.- Spare weights
4.- Dive light
5.- first aid and emergency oxigen

4.-Describe proper ascent and descent techniques for deep diving, including positioning, maintaining a proper ascent rate and descending/ascending without a visual reference.

Ascent/descent in a head-up position, regulate buoyancy controlfrequently, always face your buddy and stay at touch range , use computer or depth guage and timer.

5.- Explain how to avoid low on air or out of air situations while deep diving.

Constantly monitoring you submersible pressure gauge twice as often as a normal dive, conserve air avoiding exercise, overexertion and stresfull activities like long swims. Finish the dive with much air to make yourdecompresion stop and still have plenty left at surface, you can calculate your air consumption.

6.-Describe how to make a safety stop at 5 meters/15 feet with a visual reference (line, wall or sloping bottom).

Ascend no faster than 18 meters/60 feet per minute until your depth gauge shows 15 feet, grab the line set your timer and wait for your buddy to set time, check bouyancy.7.- Describe how to prevent nitrogen narcosis and how to treat it if it occurs.

Staying above 100 feet, asende with your buddy until symptoms subside.

8.- List six symptoms and six signs of decompression illness.

Symptoms

1.-Unusual fatige or weakness
2.- Skin itch
3.- pain in arms, legs, torso
4.- vertigo, dizziness
5.- paralysis, numbness,tingling
6.- pain breathing, shortness of breath

Signs

1.- skin rash
2.- a tendancy to favor an arm or a leg, rubbing a joint
3.- staggering
4.- coughing spasms
5.- collapse
6.- unconsciousness

9.- what is the primary reason divers get decompression illness?

Diver error

10.- Explain how to minimize the risk of decompression illness.

Use the diveplanner and computer properly, never dive to the limits.

NIGHT DIVING.

1.- State the recommendations regarding the use of new or unfamiliar equipment on a night dive.

Avoid using new or unfamiliar diving equipment. If its new use it before during the day to familiaries with it.

2.- List three uses for marker lightsand where they are attached for those uses.

1.- on your own and your buddy, attach to snorkel or tank
2.- Boat or bouys, attach to motor or antena or buoys flag
3.- Ascent/descent lines, in intervals along line.

3.- Describe what you will want to consider and evaluate in choosing a potential dive site for night

Dive in a site you’ve dived during the day, if not, dive with a buddythat has or get there before dark to evaluate the current conditions of the site. Dive when conditions are good.

4.- What are six environmental conditions you should avoid when night diving?

1.- high surf.
2.- strong currents.
3.- bad visibility.
4.- thick kelp, nets what ever may entangle you.
5.- heavy surge
6.- overhead environments.

5.- What are...
