English 6 – Homework 4

This is the story of Ed. Ed went to buy a new TV at the mall. He was very excited because he had been saving money for a whole year, and was finally able to afford a decentone.

“Excuse me, lady. Can you show me where the TVs are?”
“Sure, follow me. We have some special offers. Are you a frequent client?”
It was the first time Ed had enough money to go to thatstore.
“No. I just want a TV.”
“Okay. What kind of TV are you looking for?”
“I want one in which I can watch DVDs, and stuff.”
“I see. We have LCD and LED televisions with DVD players. With differentscreen sizes: 20” or smaller, from 21” to 29”, 40”…and up to 60” and larger.”
Ed didn’t know a thing about measuring, so he tried to sound professional.
“40” is the exact dimension I was thinkingabout”
“Okay, follow me. How much money are you willing to spend?”
“Don’t worry about the money, I’ve got lots”
He didn’t. He only had $300.
“Okay, these are some of the…. [..]”
It took him aboutfive minutes to decide which TV he wanted; he was absolutely in love with it (it was only $279 and with the spare cash he could go get a burger). He couldn’t wait to take it home.

“Sir, this TV comeswith a 1 year guarantee and free repair in case of damage. We’re sending it on a truck to your address, and it will be there in about one to three hours. Delivery cost is already included (PHEW!).Enjoy”

Ed couldn’t wait for his TV to arrive, so he waited, and waited, until his TV was home.
He set it in order to use it; it took him about three hours for it to be done.
He couldn’t resist theexcitement, but he was tired. He had to wake up early for work the next day, so he decided to just turn it on and then go to sleep.
But as soon as he pressed the TV remote, something strangehappened.
The TV made a strange noise, and all of a sudden, smoke started coming out of his TV.
