RESUMEN
La presenterevisión bibliografica tuvo por objeto estudiar los aspectos bioquímicos presentes en quistes y granulomas periapicales. Se determinó en lo investigado que, los quistes se expanden lentamente, el fluido que se forma en su interior aumenta la presión intersticial, produciendo reabsorción ósea en la periferia quística. Este fluido contiene grandes cantidades de proteínas séricas como la albúmina,inmunoglobulinas, glicoproteínas plasmáticas, glucosaminoglicanos y cristales de colesterol. Sabiendo esto es importante mencionar que en las distintas reacciones que se llevan a cabo dentro y con el medio que lo rodea, participan componentes bioquímicos de vital importancia para el quiste como son las INTERLEUSINAS (IL-1, IL-4, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12), prostaglandinas (PGE2 y PGI2), leucotrienos ycolagenasas. Esto es de gran relevancia para nuestro estudio ya que nos evidencia que los componentes bioquímicos presentes en boca, y que en estas patologías juegan un papel determinante en su formación. Es indispensable tener presente que luego de aplicar los distintos tratamientos endodonticos conservadores (tratamientos de conducto o retratamientos),y quirúrgicos (apiceptomias y obturacionesretrógradas) existe la posibilidad de que la patología no quede erradicada del todo ya que intervienen factores bacterianos, bioquímicos y anatómicos que en algunos casos el odontólogo no puede prever ni controlar.

ABSTRACT
The following investigation has as an objective to get closer and more in touch with the biochemicalcomponents found in cysts and periapical granulomas. It was found that cysts expand slowly. The fluid that forms inside the cysts increases the interstitial pressure producing osseous absorption in the area surrounding the cyst. This fluid contains great quantities of serum proteins such as albumin, immunoglobulins, plasma glycoproteins, glycosaminoglycans and cholesterol crystals. Knowing this, it isimportant to mention that with different reactions that occur inside and around the cyst, there are other very important biochemical components for the cyst. These are INTERLEUSINAS (IL-1, IL-4, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12), prostaglandin (PGE2 and PGI2), leukotrienes and collagenases. This is of major relevance for our study due to the fact that it shows that the biochemical components present in themouth and these pathologies play a determinant role on cysts formation. It is necessary to remember that after applying different treatments such as: surgeries, endodontic treatments and curettages there might be a possibility of the pathology not being completely cured, because of bacterial, biochemical and anatomic factors that escape from the dentist’s hands.
