Science is a short word for a wide definition. In “The Reach of Imagination”, Jacob Bronowski defines science as aproduct of human beings imagination since both are linked together in some way (7).Then in the article written by Thomas Kuhn, “The Route of Normal Science”, the idea that science emerges fromparadigms is exposed (70). Lastly, V.S. Ramanchandran explains that science is better driven during infancy when a child’s curiosity is at its highest point and it is based in speculations(x and xiii).
Inthe article, “The Reach of Imagination”, Jacob Bronowski specifies that imagination is a human gift , since no animal is capable of creating images in its mind(1-2). He says “to imagine means to makeimages and to move them about inside one’s head in new arrangements” proving that images are not restricted just to be perceived by the human eye, but by one’s mind too (Bronowski 3). As he keepspresenting how imagination has lead people to a lot significant achievements such as in literature and in science, he presents the examples of Galileo and Albert Einstein (Bronowski 5-6).
Both greatscientist were motivated by their imagination to create notorious ideas and make it part of their basis for scientific goals (Bronowski 5-6). According to Bronowski, science is linked to imagination insuch a way that is the origin of “imaginary experiments” that are developed in a scientist mind before being tested as a “Physical experiment” (Bronowski 6). Bronowski is basically stating thatscience is defined as a product of imaginative minds that are capable of fantasying, predicting, and then testing to prove their hypotheses to be right.
In the same way, Thomas Kuhn states, in “ The Routeof Normal Science”, that “normal science” means research firmly based upon one or more past scientific achievements” (70). He relates science to paradigm to give a more definite meaning to science...
