The 2011 population of Australia is estimated at approximately 21,766,711 people. Most of the population (83% in 1996) live within 50 km of the coast and concentrated mainly large cities at the coast cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. The population of Australia is estimated to be 22,843,782 as of 28 February 2012. Australia is the 50th most populous country in the world.Its population is concentrated mainly in urban areas. Australia's population has grown from an estimated population of about 350,000 at the time of British settlement in 1788 due to numerous waves of immigration during the period since. Also due to immigration, the European component of the population is declining as a percentage, as it is in many other Western countries.



Education inAustralia is primarily the responsibility of the states and territories. Each state or territory government provides funding and regulates the public and private schools within its governing area. The federal government helps fund the public universities, but is not involved in setting curriculum. education in Australia follows the three-tier model which includes primary education (primary schools),followed by secondary education (secondary schools/high schools) and tertiary education (universities and/or TAFE colleges). Education in Australia is compulsory between the ages of five and fifteen to seventeen, depending on the state or territory, and date of birth. The pre- school is not obligatory. School is obligatory depending on the territory and the state. It usually starts at the age offive and six until the age of fifteen and seventeen. Government schools educate approximately 65% of Australian students, with approximately 34% in Catholic and independent schools.


Australia is the smallest continent in the world, but it is the sixth largest of its kind in the world. Australia has many different geographical features. So you can find the snow covered peaks of Tasmania, alsocome across large deserts and tropical forests thatmakes the variety the continent offers. The continent of Australia is located between the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific Ocean with a total area of 7,686,850 sq km. Western Australia is made up of the Western Plateau. This region is generally flat though one will also find the presence of a number of mountain ranges in the same region.

Someof the big rivers of the region are the Victoria, Murchison and the Ashburton rivers. On the eastern coast of Australia are the Eastern Highlands that are also known as the Great Diving Range that separates the eastern coastal plain from the rest of Australia. These highlands receive the most of the amount of rainfall in Australia and a rich and diverse presence of flora and fauna. This region isquite densely populated. The Central Lowlands lie between the Western Plateau and the Eastern Highlands. The Great Barrier Reef, which is the world's largest coral reef complex. the island of Tasmania is located off the southeastern coast. The desert outback, dry and barren region makes up most of the interior of Australia.



As many other counties Australia has many famous people andcelebrities. Some famous actors are Hugh Jackman, Mel Gibson, Nicole Kidman, Paul Hogan, and Russell Crow. Some musicians and bands are ACDC, Kylie Minogue, The Easybeats, Jet, Angus and Julia Stone, The Wiggles, Rolf Harris and the famous teenage sensation Cody Simpson. Some celebrities are Skippy, Steve Irwin, Cathy Freeman, Greg Norman, Ian Thorpe, Craig Foster, Adam Spencer, Elle Macpherson andRupert Murdoch. The Australian dollar is the currency of the Commonwealth of Australia.
