I. RESUMEN

La automedicación es uno de los problemas más graves que afectan a la población mundial, incluso a estudiantes universitarios de carreas profesionales de salud como los de enfermería, quienes mejorar sus actitudes relacionadas al uso de los medicamentos para incorporarlas a la práctica de trabajo habitual y en su propio autocuidado.Por ello este estudio cuantitativo descriptivo, correlacional de corte transversal tuvo como finalidad determinar la frecuencia y factores que condiciona la autoedición en los estudiantes de enfermería de la Universidad Nacional del Santa; para ello se trabajó con una muestra probabilística de 62 estudiantes matriculados en el II semestre – 2010, seleccionados aplicando el muestreo estratificado,con un margen de error del 0,5%. Mediante el método de la encuesta y utilizando un cuestionario anónimo autoaplicable de 12 preguntas, algunas con de respuesta única y otras de tipo Likert se recolectaron los datos, los cuales después de analizarlos estadísticamente se concluyó que: El 75,8% de los estudiantes de enfermería se automedicó a veces y el 24,2% habitualmente; los medicamentos masautomedicados en el 91,9.5% de los estudiantes fueron los AINEs, antigripales y antibióticos en el 79 % y 51,6% respectivamente, los menos consumidos fueron los anticonceptivos (11,3%) y ansiolíticos (6,5%). El 71% de se automedicó para controlar la gripe, el 66,1% para la fiebre, el 58,1% para la dismenorrea; la principal fuente de información sobre los medicamentos automedicados fueron los insertosde los medicamentos en el 29%, las recetas medicas antiguas (27,4%) y los amigos y familiares (21%). El 87,1% adquirió los medicamentos en farmacias y boticas y el 1,6% de amigos y familiares. El ciclo de estudios tiene una relación no significativa con la frecuencia de la automedicación en estudiantes de enfermería (p= 0,615).

ABSTRACT


Theautomedication is one of the most serious problems that affect the world population, even to university students of carreas professionals of health as those of infirmary, who to improve his attitudes related to the use of the medicines to incorporate them into the practice of habitual work and in his own autocare.
