ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT (OR) APPLICANTS (See Appendix A) MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION. The U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo is seeking an individual for the position of Secretary in the Cultural Affairs Unit at the Public AffairsSection.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION The incumbent performs general logistical duties for the Cultural department in all matters related to the programs of the department and direct assistance to the Cultural Affair Officer. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. 1. Business administration or related field college degree is required. 2. Two to three years of increasingly responsible administrative and programming experience in a multicultural setting is required. 3. English level IV (fluent)writing/speaking/reading, Spanish level IV (fluent) (speaking/reading/writing) is required. 4. Good working knowledge of the country’s political, economic, social and educational structure, institutions, political parties and cultural movements; historical development; keypersonalities. Good knowledge of Public Affairs cultural programs, manuals and techniques and U.S. society, art, culture, education social and political process, guidelines on program and administrative support areas are required. 5. This position requires communications between FSN’s, officers, the public, the media, contractors and other Embassy sections. Must be able to communicate with mid-high tohigh level Public Affairs contacts is required. The incumbent must have sufficient substantive knowledge to answer moderately complex questions from all quarters, or direct inquiries to the proper persons. Verbal and written skills that enable him/her to impart messages quickly and accurately are required. ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA THAT MAY AFFECT THE FINAL HIRING DECISION INCLUDE BUT ARE NOTLIMITED TO: NEPOTISM, BUDGET, CONTINUITY IN THE POSITION, STAFFING GAPS, AND/OR THE NEED FOR THE APPLICANT TO HAVE A SECURITY CLEARANCE. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.4.
