The battle of Hastings:
The Battle of Hastings was one of the most significant events in English history. It was one of the crucial moments that changed the course of English history. Even more,that battle was one of the reasons why England became one of the most powerful countries in the world. The Battle of Hastings occurred in 1066. It involved a whole day of fighting in which the Normansand the Anglo-Saxons participated. Owing to the lack of the Normans this battle was their victory. The famous Bayeux Tapestry[->0] depicted the events before and during the battle. Its imagesillustrated the story of the conquest of England from the Norman perspective. It focused on the story of William and his victories. This tapestry showed William, Duke of Normandy along with his troops at theevents surrounding the Battle of Hastings in 1066.

Harold Hardrada

Following the death of King Edward the Confessor in 1066, succession to the English throne fell into dispute. Harold Hardradaparticipated in the conflict.
He was a brilliant general who was remembered for his invasion of England in 1066. He invaded the northern part of it to establish his claim by force of arms. For twentyyears, he ruled Norway, and he became known as Hardrada, meaning hard-ruler.
Although Harold Hardrada loved war and killing people, he died at Stamford Bridge in 1066 where he fought a bloody battleagainst Harold Godwinson and his army. The battle was fought because they both believed that they should be king of England. Harold Hardrada was killed and after that Harold Godwinson fought againstWilliam, Duke of Normandy. William emerged victorious and became king of England.
