Negative Thinking or Behaviors at Workplace and How to Deal

Negative thinking or behavior at workplace, or being around negative coworkers, can decrease workplace performance. In order to avoid these negativesituations Blake (2011), the author of this article who based his work on a research made by Straube,T., Sauer, A., Miltner,W. (2011) gives some valuable tips.
One of these tips is to become self-aware. Anticipate any negative thought related to the job place, an assignment or about co-workers and reverse it into a positive or neutral thought whenever possible. Negative thoughts often lead tochanges in behaviors and it and can affect performance and interpersonal relationships with peers, including those who are not responsible for their own changes of attitude or habits.
Another tip is to try redirecting the conversation when a complainer starts a conversation about a negative issue, especially when the topic is related to the job. A situation like this may negatively influenceparticipants’ attitude. When this situation occurs the best idea is to change the negative of the conversation into a positive one. An example of this is if the complainer says ‘I do not like to work nine hours on Monday’ the counterpart can say ‘well, remember Friday shifts are four hours only’. Another tactic is to confront this person and asking why is he/she complaining. Sometimes people complainwithout asking for a solution, just to bother others. However, if the complainer cannot change his / her mind after the feedback, then it is better to ignore the conversation or walk away. In fact it is better to avoid situations like these when it is possible instead of being involved.

Personal Opinion About The Article
Where possible we must avoid those who constantly carry a negative attitudein the job place. Dealing with people who tend to be negative, both in attitude and behavior, may be a frustrating task. However, do not close your mind to the idea that the negativity of that person is the product of a situation that may be beyond their control. Always keep in mind that a simple gesture as talking may help that person to change their attitude to something more positive. The mostimportant point here is to try to understand the person before judging it as negative or simply someone has bad moments or requires some kind of psychological treatment due to stress, depression and other mental disorders.

Mobbing or Psychological Harassment Among Coworkers

Psychological harassment at work or Mobbing is an increasingly important aspect in labor relations. Maybe this behaviorhas existed in earlier times, but lately is has become an important issue in our society.

Pierre Lebrun was an Oc Transpo worker who killed four of his workfellows and then he killed himself in April 7, 1999.Lebrun suffered of stuttering, a condition where the person cannot speak correctly, repeating words or part of them several times or adding sounds such as ‘oh’ or ‘am’. This condition could affect the relations between who suffers this condition and those around the affected person due of lack of comprehension of this illness such as loss of patience to understand what the affected person is...
