Bilingualism

First of all, we must know what bilingualism means, because
different people use the term in different ways. For some, bilingualism
means an equal ability to communicate in twolanguages. For others,
bilingualism means the ability to communicate in two languages, but with
the possibility of greater skills in one of them.
Besides, there are different theories on the best wayto teach a child
to use two languages. However, most researchers agree that a child who is
exposed to two languages at an early age, and simultaneously, will
naturally learn to use both languages.Anyway, the teaching of other languages apart from our primary
language is very important for everybody, and the school must encourage
to see the bilingualism as an extra skill with children aregoing to have.
On the other hand, needless to say, that nowadays we are living in a
very changeable world, with new advances everyday. These changes
modify our education and therefore, this educationmust be according to the
society.

Bilingualism is the ability to speak or write fluently in 2 languages. In Canada the term has taken on a more particular meaning: the ability to communicate (orthe practice of communicating) in both of Canada's official languages, English and French. It has been formalized in LANGUAGE POLICY in an attempt by government to respond to a difficult socialquestion: to what extent is it possible to make legal and practical accommodations that will allow the 2 official language communities to preserve their cultural distinctiveness and at the same time pursuecommon goals? "Institutional bilingualism" refers to the capacity of state institutions to operate in 2 languages and should not be confused with a requirement that everyone be bilingual.Historically, institutional bilingualism has recognized the facts of Canada's settlement and development.
