Antonio José de Sucre Alcalá, (Cumana, Venezuela CG, Spanish Empire, now Sucre state, Venezuela, February 3, 1795 - Berruecos Mountains, the Unity (Nariño),Colombia, June 4, 1830), was a politician, statesman and military Venezuelan American independence leader and president of Bolivia, Peru Governor General-in-Chief of the Gran Colombia and Commander of theSouthern Army. He was the son of a wealthy family of military tradition, his father Patriot Army colonel. It is considered one of the most comprehensive military between the heroes of the independencesudamericana.
He lost his mother at age seven. As a teenager he was sent to Caracas to the care of his godfather the archdeacon of the cathedral, priest Antonio Patricio de Alcalá, to initiatemilitary engineering studies at the School of José Mires. In 1809, with his brother Peter and other young people, as cadet joined the company of Fernando VII Nobles Hussars, in Cumana, organized by JuanManuel unit of Cajigal and Child, governor of the province of Cumana.
In 1810, the Board of Governors of Cumana gives employment regulated militia lieutenant of infantry. This degree was ratified bythe Supreme Council of Caracas on August 6 of that year. In 1811 Margarita plays in the position of commander of engineers. On July 31 of that year he received the office of lieutenant. In 1812 is inBarcelona, as commander of the artillery. There, on July 3 of that year, along with other notable citizens, signed the minutes of the council of war which met that day to resolve all matters relatingto the security of the Republic, following the events in Caracas (offensive Domingo de Monteverde) and occupation of Cúpira by a group of supporters of Fernando VII.
After the surrender of GeneralFrancisco de Miranda returned to Cumana, where the new royal governor Emeterio Ureña expanded her passport for her to move to Trinidad, but does not appear to make use of this document. In 1813,...
