Ray Lewis
Ray Anthony Lewis (born May 15, 1975 in Bartow, Florida) is an American football player who occupies the position of linebacker and inthe ranks of the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). Lewis has participated in nine Pro Bowls and was named All-Pro seven times. He also won the Defensive Player of the Season in2000 and 2003. It was also the first linebacker to win the Super Bowl MVP in 1971.
Childhood and youth
Born in Bartow, Florida. He played in the peewee league in Mulberry, Florida. In Kathleen HighSchool, Lewis was MVP in his junior and senior seasons, participating as a linebacker, running back and returner. In Kathleen Lewis recorded 207 tackles with ten sacks, three blocked field goals, fivefumble returns and eight interceptions (three for touchdowns). He also returned four punts and two kickoffs for touchdowns. As their numbers running back disappointed either: 591 yards rushing and eighttouchdowns. What's more, Lewis was champion 4A state wrestling in 1993, with a weight of 189lb.
In 2007 he was elected to the Florida High School Association All-Century Team which selected the top33 players of the hundred-year history of football in Florida institutes.
Academic studies
He played for the University of Miami, teaming with Warren Sapp and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson accountingfor 81 tackles, two sacks, two tackles for a loss and four pass deflections, being chosen by all the best rookie team the country.
In his second season Lewis also made a very good job leading the BigEast Conference with 152 tackles and also contributed nine tackles for a loss, two sacks and an interception for the Hurricanes, who finished sixth in both polls journalists coaches.
Lewis finishedhis junior season with 160 tackles, the second best mark in the history of the University of Miami, only after Ed Weisacosky (164 in 1965). Lewis also totaled eight tackles for a loss, two sacks, two...
