Alfonsina Storni

Alfonsina Storni Martignoni was a poet and writer of Modernism Argentina. She was born on May 29, in Room Capriasca Switzerland. When she was four years old, she moved withher parents to Argentina. The first place she lived was the city of San Juan, later lived in Santa Fe, Rosario, Buenos Aires and Mar del Plata. In 1906 when she was fourteen her father committedsuicide and family life is impoverished and developed with great difficulty. She worked in a factory to help at home. As a teenager she joins a company of theatre and toured several provinces acting oncertain sites.
When she returned she resumed her studies. Alfonsina worked as a teacher of school and also she gave lessons of dramatic art. In 1912, she was 20 years old, she became a single motherand settled in Buenos Aires. Alfonsina was not hidden and not ashamed of being a single mom something not accepted in her epoch. After the birth of her son Alexander to raise him she worked as acashier alternating their work with her collaborations in magazines. Later, she was employed as Professor at the Escuela Normal de Lenguas Vivas. She began her literary career in 1916 when she edited "Theconcern of the rose", "Sweet injury " in 1918 and 1920 "Languor", which received the First Municipal Prize of Poetry and the Second National Prize for Literature. In 1925 she published "Ochre", thatmarked a turning point in her poetry, was linked to the topic feminist and she attempted to evade the greatness of modernism and come back looking to the real world, she showed traits of modernismand resurces such as anti-sonnet. Alfonsina was a friend and disciple of the greatest poets, artists, writers and thinkers of the Spanish language of the era, including: Gabriela Mistral, Juana deIbarborou, José Ingenieros, Amado Nervo, Emilio Centurion Quinquela, Norah Lange, Leopoldo Marechal , Eduardo Mallea, Manuel Gálvez, Julio Herrera and Reissing, Rubén Darío, Horacio Quiroga.
