INTRODUCTION
With this experiment wecan prove that microwave ovens release toxins in what’s warmed. In this case is the water used to water plants, these toxins withered them. If we consider this experiment and apply it to everyday life,we can realize that every time we warm things in the microwave, a variety of toxins are released, including carcinogenic ones. So, we should change our habits of warming food in microwave ovens toimprove our health and prevent future diseases.
HYPOTHESIS
Due to radiation in water, plants watered with it would die.
OBJECTIVES
To confirm the presence and releasing of toxins whileheating things in the microwave and its consequences.
By heating the water in the microwave we are trying to make it get these toxins and we let it cool to prove that its temperature has nothing to dowith them. These toxins will get to the plant when it absorbs the water in the soil and it is expected to die or to not grow.
METHODOLOGY
1. Measure water, the same for all plants. (160mlaprox. for each one)
2. 4 of these amounts will be heated in the microwave for 2 minutes.
3. Once they are hot we take the temperature and let them cool. (10 minutes)
4. Water the plants. 4with this heated water, 4 with room-temperature water.
*Before repeating these steps, look for any changes in the plants. (leafs, flowers, height, etc) to see if there any changes between the oneswith heated water and the ones with room-temperature water.
MATERIALS
* 8 plants (we chose zinnias)
* Water
* Thermometer
* Microwave oven
* Measuring cup
