Case Study

1. The previous case studies at the base of this research were the Rotterdam study that suggested an increased risk to develop dementia and Alzheimer disease. The found out that 5.3million worldwide lived with Alzheimer disease; also 23 million patients in the U.S suffer of diabetes, in the studies they said this numbers are destined to increase dramatically over the next twodecades.

2. The social implications of the studies of T2D, and AD, is that the rate of people suffering this disease is increasing, also that T2D can cause obesity, and this studies are trying also tofind out how they can make people with T2D an AD live longer. Also there were many people going to hospitals because they have risk of having this disease or they already have it. There’s a socialproblem with this experiments because they use rats.

3. The economic implications of these experiments are that there’s a very high cost of making this investigation, because they need animals, a verygood laboratory many Scientifics working at the experiment, and all materials they needed, so the cost of the investigation is very high. But also people that suffer these diseases have to pay a lotof money to a doctor or a hospital, so they can live longer, and don’t suffer hard pains, and medicine for these diseases has a high cost, even though this medicine isn’t the cure for the disease.
4.Scientific advances that link T2D and AD, are that they found what is wrong in their organisms by using some laboratory rats, they insert this disease to the rats and find what happened to themmentally and physically, for example they found out that with AD the rats lost memory quickly, but they also found out that T2D didn’t caused do much obesity as they thought , and with this investigationsthey hope people with T2D live longer than now a days, even longer than people with AD that in this moment live longer than people with T2D.
