Applicants who are eligible are invited to submit applications for preventive health services to refugees and those with other eligible immigration statuses to provide for medical screening and health assessmentservices.  The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) is making approximately $4,748,000 available for this program.  Awards will be based upon the outcome of the review process and the availability of funds. I. Funding Opportunity Description Statutory Authority The ORR Refugee Preventive Health Discretionary Grant Program is authorized by section 412(b)(5) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), as amended 8 U.S.C. 1522(b)(5), which authorizes theDirector to make grants to, and enter into contracts with, State and local health agencies for payments to meet their costs of providing medical screening and initial medical treatment to refugees. Description Introduction  The purpose of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) Refugee Preventive Health (RPH) Discretionary Grant Program is to support refugee medical screening and initial treatment for refugeesupon arrival to the U.S. in order to identify contagious conditions that may affect the public health and similarly identify conditions that prove to be barriers to self-sufficiency.  Refugee Medical Screening (RMS), a part of the Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA) program, and Refugee Preventive Health (RPH) grants support medical screening services for refugees. This FOA concerns the Refugee Preventive Health(RPH) program.  Program Description  The ORR Director intends for the RPH Discretionary Grant Program to continue to support refugee medical screening services. ORR RPH funded services are limited to eligible persons.  Individuals with the following immigration statuses are eligible for services under this grant:  (1) refugees, (2) asylees, (3) Cuban and Haitian entrants,(4) certain Amerasians from Vietnam, (5) victims of a severe form of trafficking who receive certification or eligibility letters from ORR, (6) certain other specified family members of trafficking victims, and (7) Iraqi and Afghan Special Immigrants with Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs).  The term "refugee" is used in this notice to encompass all such eligible persons.   1 of 24...
