In Turkey what is favorite for the religion is not favorite for its state, one example is the number of marriages that one person can have. The Turkish code doesn’t accept that a man getsmarried with two or more women but the Muslim religion accepts it. If a Turkish man gets married with two or more woman he has to treat them in the same way, but it’s not common in Turkey that a manget married with two or more women. It’s usual that the turkey men get married in summer, spring and fall, they celebrate their civil wedding in “marriage offices” where this celebration justtakes 10 or 15 minutes. The couple needs two witnesses and a judge, after saying yes they go to a big place to dance and eat delicious food like their principal plate: lamb with rice. Thewedding dress is western. The family use to give gold coins, gold jewelry and money. The gold coins generally have a red tape and they are posted in the wedding dress. The amount of coins and jewelryof the bride depends of the economic situation of her family. The bride normally wears a little bag where she can save her gifts. In the religious wedding the bride wears a red chastity beltlike her virginity symbol.
Three days before the wedding the bride female friends decorate her hands with dry leaves of “henna” and they sing and dance, for this reason the celebration is namedthe “Henna night” and it is similar to a bridal shower, the bride wear a red dress and a red veil of silk, her friends tattoo her hands and feet; one day before the wedding the couple parentsoffer food and a dinner for the guests and the last day the bride is conduced to the house of her couple dancing traditional dances.
When the event ends the couple goes to their bridal bedroom,they go in a car decorated with flowers, when they are in their bedroom the husband prays for his wife, and then he unveils her.
