Resumen (inglés):
Eating disorders (ED) have had a remarkable increase in the population, being considered as one of the main psychiatricproblems among young females. Also, eating disorders are associated with a high mortality risk, a low recovery rate, a high co-morbility and a high risk of relapse (Chinchilla, 2003). This study is aimedat assessing attitudinal and behavioral factors associated with ED in young female students of the Faculty of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmacy, and of the Faculty of Human Sciences of UniversidadNacional de San Luis. The Eating Disorder Inventory-2 (EDI-2) questionnaire was administered to 94 university female students. The results obtained from EDI-2 subscales Body Dissatisfaction,Ineffectiveness, Maturity Fear, Interpersonal Distrust, Introspective Awareness and Social Insecurity show a moderate risk of suffering ED, and a low risk of Drive for Thinness, Perfectionism, Bulimia,Asceticism and Impulsiveness in the whole sample. No differences in the mean of both faculties in relation to ED attitudinal and behavioral factors were found. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
