Summary IV: Levels of Organization Change

The purpose of this chapter is to examine organizationchange at three different but similar levels and focuses. The book states that not only does evolutionary change differs from revolutionary but it also does at three different levels within firms.First we are going to examine the change in organizations at the individual level, including the individual responses to organization change. Secondly, this summary will explain the change inorganizations at the group level. Lastly, we are going to examine the change in organizations at the larger-system level and the system responses to organization change.-------------------------------------------------
Change in Organizations at the Individual Group: These changes are designed and implemented to help the organization move in its new direction. There are three primary changes forindividuals in implementing organization change. These are:

Recruitment, Selection, Replacement, and Displacement:

Recruitment: refers to the process of bringing together prospective employers and employees. The purpose of recruitment is to prepare a portfolio of people who meet thecriteria in job specifications so that the organization may choose those who are found most suitable for the vacant positions.

Selection Process:the selection process present in the book states that first the selection decisions would be made by the people to work with those selected. Also, the decisions would be based on how the applicantscollaborated in team situations. Another characteristic was the physiological tests used as a secondary basis.
