Construction project
Executive summary
Roberts & Walters Construction was hired to work on a project, which is to build newgovernment offices.
The deadline that was established in the contract was November of this year, but since some remains have been found while excavating, the construction has suffered a lot of delays,reason why the expedition date of this contract must be postponed, otherwise the target won´t be achieved and the project will not be completed on time.
The project is expected to be finished byJanuary of 2013.
Introduction
The company would be assuming all the risks in the event of failure, this means that we are going to be responsible for any kind of delays given during the constructionschedule, causing our company a lot expenses from fines.
In order not to receive these fines, our clients pointed us that the construction work must be completed no later than December of this year. Butto make this possible we have to review some of the agreements made in the contract because that would involve taking on extra labour or overtime, which is going to be expensive and our remainingbudget doesn´t allow for that.
Findings
Our clients want us to finish the project no later than December of this years because they have the obligation to leave the older building in order to let otherpeople move into at the same time.
Since this situation is very delicate for the company, I really think we should arrange a meeting as soon as possible with our clients in order to get a new fundingagreement approved.
Recommendations
1. We need to arrange a new meeting with our clients in order to discuss all the issues given.
2. We need to present a new budget in accordance to the newdeadline considering all the extra expenses this would cause to the company.
3. Since both parties are deep involved, we need to make a new proposal pointing how the new costs incurred in this...
