COURSE DESCRIPTION: Introduction to theory and practice in the preparation and interpretation of general purpose financial statements.


COURSE PREREQUISITES: None.

SPECIAL NOTE: This instructor reserves the right to change anything on this course syllabus as deemed necessary throughout the semester.

TEXTBOOK &MATERIALS: Accounting Principles by Weygandt, Kieso, & Kimmel, 10th Edition. The course fees paid include an online version of the textbook and access to WileyPlus (online homework/textbook program), so buying a hard copy of the textbook is not required; although, it may be helpful to buy a hard copy of the textbook at the bookstore. A simple calculator that does basic calculations of addition,subtraction, multiplication, and division is highly recommended.

TUTORING: The Accounting and Statistics Learning Center isavailable free of charge to students registered in this class. You may attend in-person, group tutoring at SCC, in the Applied Sciences building room AP 292 at the following days and times: Monday through Wednesday 8:00am to 6:15pm and Thursday 8:00am to 2pm.

ACADEMIC HONESTY:
|Every student in this class is expected to produce his/her own original work.|
|Plagiarism will result in being dropped from the course with a failing grade. |
|Plagiarism will result in a letter to the Dean of Students for further disciplinary action. |

STUDENT RESPONSIBILIITES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:(a) receiving, maintaining, and knowing information on this syllabus, and (b) adhering to college policies located in the college catalog, the class schedule, and the student handbook.

BLACKBOARD: Students have Blackboard access and should check the course site regularly. The syllabus, powerpoint handouts, grades and other vital information will be posted. Computer access is available oncampus.

EXAMS: Exams will be given as scheduled on this syllabus. If you miss an exam, you will arrange with the instructor to take a comprehensive exam to be completed by 12pm, Thursday, May 9, 2013 and that score will replace the missed exam score of 0. You may also choose to take the comprehensive exam to replace your lowest exam score.

QUIZZES: Quizzes will be given throughout the semester.There are no make-up quizzes.
