CUENTO POPULAR: LA CASA MATUSITA

Por muchos años existió una especie de mito con respecto a una casa céntrica de Lima, la que quedaba en los altos de la esquina de la Av. Wilson (hoy Av.Garcilaso de la Vega) con la Av. España.

Esta casa era conocida con el nombre del negocio que había en la planta baja, Matusita. Dicen que en ella habitaban fantasmas, los cuales no dejaban en paz aninguna persona que se atreviese a pasar la noche. Nadie podía dormir allí.

Diversas personas ofrecían recompensas a quien se atreviera a desafiarlos e intentase quedarse una noche completa. Los pocosque lo intentaron terminaron botando espuma por la boca y algunos hasta en el manicomio.

Fue tanta la fama de la casa que la gente contaba infinidad de historias sobre ella. Inclusive algunos decíanque como quedaba frente a la Embajada de los Estados Unidos, era su personal los que hacían creer que estaba habitada por fantasmas.

Brujos y charlatanes de toda especie se acercaron a limpiarla,es decir, a botar los fantasmas… los que, según los vecinos, aún la habitan.

For many years there was a kind of myth about a house downtown Lima, which was on theheights of the corner of Wilson Avenue (now Avenue Garcilaso de la Vega) with Av Spain.
