Height gain The rigid catenary is really compact. It only needs low height under ceiling. Thus, this system allows the electrification of inaccessible tunnels to the conventional catenary. For creation lines,this height gain reduces the tunnel section needed. The economies realised on the civil engineering are substantial.
Important conducting section The rigid catenary has a very important conducting section : up to 1200 mm² of copper equivalent. For the lines with high traffic, in particular with low tension (750 or 1500 V) it allows an intense explotation with frequencies about 2 min, without...
