This festival takes place especially in the German regions where most of its residents are Catholic and the Rhineland. Carnival ("Fasching", "Fasnacht" or "Karneval")is a celebration dating back to ancient times, standing out especially in the cities of Cologne, Bonn, Mainz and Düsseldorf.
In the region of southern Germany, the AlemannicFasnet is typical celebration starts on November 11 (the fifth season), culminating on Ash Wednesday.
