Anexample of this is the numerous cultural events that Mexico host. One of the principal events is the Festival Cervantino, which develops out in the city of Guanajuato in the state of the same name. TheFestival Cervantino is considered the most important cultural and artistic event. Since its first emission, the Festival Cervantino has been the most important festival for Guanajuato and theLatin-American culture; so important, that the city has been declared as heritage of the world, and the festival is member of the European Festival Association, which is the oldest cultural network in Europeand its celebrating its 60 years (European Festivals Association 2012), and also is member of the Asian Association of Theater Festival (CONACULTA, 2012). Since its begging, the Festival Cervantinohas brought with it benefits and wealth that helps the country with its image in the international community, and at the same time contributes with the local and international community in cultural andeconomic aspects. The following essay will detail the Festival Cervantino’ s history, its dynamic, its economic and cultural aspects.
The Festival Cervantino takes over between the last days ofSeptember and almost all the October season. The actor and director Enrique Ruelas is considered as the main responsible of the festival. Under his directions, in 1972, the Coloquio Cervantino wasplanned; an event that exhibited performances of the writer Miguel de Cervantes.
