The agency that I chose to visit was the school counseling office at ProctorHigh School, which is located at 1203 Hilton Ave. Utica New York 13501. The phone is (315) 368-6400. My interview was on November 16, 2012, at 8:45 am. The counselor who gave the interview was Mrs.Saugh.
On Monday I visited Thomas R. Proctor High School, to personally request an interview with a school counselor. I preferred to go personally to explain the purpose of my interview. Thesecretary took my name and phone information and then called me. Because I did not receive a response from them, on Wednesday, 14 November I went back and was able to schedule an interview for FridayNovember 16 ,2012, at 8:45 am. I dressed in a professional manner and according to the occasion (off my phone). Mrs.Saugh is a school counselor at Proctor High School. She is responsible for grades10-12, and is responsible for counseling a total of 360 students. During our interview I assumed that for Mrs.Saugh, her work as a counselor is more than a job. She showed great enthusiasm for her work.According to Mrs.Saugh the Proctor High school was founded in 1936. She did not have accurate information on how many counselors had worked there to that date. At the present time Proctor HighSchool has about 25 counselors, which serve 2,800 students currently studying there. The purpose of this agency is to provide good study skills to students and help them solve their problemseither within the family or at school.
It helps to make the school experience positive and help the student achieve their goals. Mrs.Saugh added that her office is visited by both students andparents. Counseling services are for all students, and these services are offered to all kinds of students, whether students had bad behavior, lack of enthusiasm, student absences, students exhibiting...
