Measures Taken to Achieve the 2010 Target
Medidas tomadas en 2010 para lograr el objetivo
Chile has integrated the 2010 biodiversity target as a national target. Indeed, the national strategy for the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity, approved in December 2003 by the National Commission on the Environment(CONAMA), establishes as its second objective that actions will be taken to ensure the long term-protection of biodiversity (including species, ecosystems and genes), promoting the protection of at least 10% of each type of ecosystem before 2010. A national policy on the conservation of threatened species has been in place since 2005, and the classification of species that are suspected of being underthreat in accordance with IUCN criteria has been carried out, guided by a specific regulatory scheme in place. In addition, national policies on protected areas and on wetlands have also been in place since 2005, which will assist Chile towards the fulfillment of the 2010 target, through the implementation of plans of actions currently under development.

En 2010 Chile ha integrado el objetivo dela biodiversidad como uno nacional, incluso la estrategia para la conservación y sustentabilidad utiliza la diversidad biológica aprobada en diciembre del año 2003 por la comisión nacional del medioambiente (CONAMA) que establece como segundo objetivo las acciones que se tomarán para asegurar la protección a largo plazo de la biodiversidad (incluso especies, ecosistemas y genes), promoviendo laprotección de al menos un 10% de cada tipo de ecosistema antes del 2010. Una política nacional de la conservación de especies amenezadas han estado en el lugar desde el 2005, y la clasificación de especies que se sospecha que está bajo amenaza de acuerdo a los criterios de la IUCN….. Además las políticas nacionales en áreas protegidas y pantanos tambipen ahn estado en el lugar desde el 2005……….Initiatives in Protected Areas
Iniciativas para la protección de áreas
Under the national action plan, the strategic focal area 1 provides for the establishment of a national network of protected land and marine areas. The network will include various public and private sub-systems. By 2010, a total of 46 territories is expected to be under legal protection, covering an area of 1,5 millionhectares. At 2010, progress will be made in order to meet the goal of reaching 10% of the area of relevant ecosystems to be under protection by different instruments. At 2006, 4 marine protected areas were already established. At 2010, progress will also have been made in the constitution of the national network integrating the various sub-systems. On this, a project started in 2006, funded by the GEF,will assist the Government in the design and implementation of the national network of protected areas. By 2005, 28 priority sites were already under official protection.

Bajo el plan de acción nacional, la coordinación estratégica del área preveé la creación de una red nacional de áreas protegidas terrestres y marinas. La red contará con diversos organismos públicos y privados de los subsistemas.En el año 2010, un total de 46 territorios se espera que sea bajo protección legal, que abarca una superficie de 1,5 millones de hectáreas. En 2010, el progreso se hará con el fin de cumplir con el objetivo de alcanzar el 10% de la superficie de los ecosistemas relevantes que se encuentran bajo protección de diferentes instrumentos. En el 2006, 4 áreas marinas protegidas ya estaban establecidos.En el año 2010, el progreso se han realizado también en la constitución de la red nacional integración de los diferentes sub-sistemas. En este sentido, un proyecto iniciado en 2006, financiado por el GEF, ayudará al Gobierno en el diseño y la ejecución de la red nacional de áreas protegidas. En el año 2005, 28 sitios prioritarios ya estaban bajo protección oficial.
