CHINA XIX CENTURY
A country with a background more different than Mexico’s one could possibly be China. Their millenary roots and traditions make our history look way more recent and slighter.
Thispast century has certainly been somehow a turmoil and also an opportunity for China to choose the governmental/economical system that best fits a population of 1.3 billion people.
After the QingDynasty was overthrown in 1911 a republic was installed by Sun Yat-sen and other Republicans. No real power consolidation and a strong influence of communism led to a long Civil war in China that endedup in 1949 with the establishment of The Communist Party of China.
MAO ZEDONG
He decided to implement a series of reforms called The Great Leap Forward, which intended to put China into modernityand better life quality standards.
Qualities:

* Education improvement
* Gender “Equality”
* Strong leadership, holding together that huge population under control* Inspiring confidence
Mao changed Marxism into Maoism; he was an idealist who loved philosophy and literature. He set up communes, expropriated industries, and applied all the basic principles ofcommunism. Although very charismatic, trying to control a population of more than 600 million people at the time with the overbearing and controlling rules of communism was practically an impossiblemission to achieve.
Flaws:
* Great Leap Forward: He avoided hiring experts, since he was so respected and feared, no one would contradict his crazy ideas. Bad infrastructure (like steel productionimprovisation), Droughts, and awful working schedules made it worse.
* Cultural Revolution: Due to his loss of power after his mistakes on the Great Leap Forward, he was dismissed and foughtback for power. Once he got it back he went outrageous creating a culture of extreme left and fear of the “WEST”. He used young people to condemn rightist like Deng Xiaoping.
