Christianity and Islam – Two Religions with many Similarities
Christianity and Islam are the most significant religions on the world which, in spiteof the war between the USA and Islamic countries creating hatred on both sides, are very similar to each other. Many people disrespect other religions for the reason that they assume the foreignreligion is hostile towards other religious beliefs. Indeed, this hostile attitude derives from people who are uninformed and prefer to be ignorant. In fact, these both religions have many in commonregarding the prophets or religious duties which is obvious if one takes a closer look.
First of all, both religions are similar in basic concepts. Christianity and Islam are monotheistic religions andGod is recognized as creator of all human beings, the world and the whole universe. Additionally, God is omnipotent, omniscient and has a unique relationship to humans, which could be described asMaster-Servant-Relationship. Furthermore, both religions have the same eschatology, which is the pertaining to the end of the world, and the same belief of being judged by God, based on their actions inlife, to an eternal abode in paradise or hell. Moreover, angels exist in both religions as servants and messengers of God next to the devil, the evil spirit and enemy of humanity. Another similarityis the fact that both religions believe in prophets, who brought spiritual instruction like for instance, Yeshua of Nazareth.
The Status of Jesus Christ regarding Islam and Christianity revealsmany similarities and differences between both beliefs. Christians generally consider Jesus as the Son of God. At the same time, Jesus is respected very highly as the second-last prophet and, therefore,he is an important figure in Islam and for all Muslims.
