Proposal for students to read the article: “How do brains process music?”

The purpose of this proposal is to persuade students to read one of the articles ofthe Smithsonian magazine. For this proposal, I’ve chosen one very interesting article that is “How do brains process music?”

It’s Content

This articlecontains very interesting and amusing facts about how the reader feels about music now a days, where technology have a very big influence in every aspect of our life, music in this article.

You can find very remarkable facts, such as what are the mirror neurons, which have been discovered by a study taken by one of theneurologists in the UCL This neurons activate our muscles when we see someone doing something. For example, when someone smileys, these mirror neurons activate ourfacial muscles and make us smile too. These neurons also activate our emotions. For example, when we see a romantic movie, wee feel a sort of empathy and startcrying.

Talking about music, some of our neurons fire up and make our body react different with various type of music.

The writer also mentions in thearticle, how music has lost its value through the time. Long time ago, people used to pay or compose music themselves in order to have the “privilege” to hear music. Now a day, you hear any kind of music everywhere; now you have to “pay” for silence.

My opinion

I recommend students to read this article, because apart frombeing very easy to read, you will find it very interesting, with facts which you maybe have never heard about. I was fascinated because I learned a lot from it.
