Night Seascape (Campeche)
This painting was done in Mexico, early the 20th century by Joaquin Clausell. In this painting standsout the light, the color, the rocks and the water.
Joaquin Clausell was born in Campeche on June, 1695. He studied engineering and laws and finally he became a lawyer in 1896. He dedicated partof his life to do politic toons and the journalism. In 1892 he initiated an anti-reeleccionist campaign. He dedicated to the painting at the age of 35 and he died in an accident in Cempoala in1935.
This painting is a dark portrait; it is different because it shows a different way of representation and a very realistic seascape. He used a technique named plein air that catches thelight and his different tonalities in the same landscape. This seascape shows us the experience and talent that Joaquin has.
This painting is unique and for his times it was something new andspecial. It can takes the attention of the spectator and translated him to that sea.
