애[ ]:에[e] 외[ ] [we] 위[ ] [wi] 소리 나는 자리가 가까워 발음이 아주 비슷하다. 실제 대화에서 구별하기 어렵다. The pronunciations of ‘애’ and ‘에’ are too similar to distinguish. In speech, Koreans do not make a distinction between them. 외[ ],위 [] 는 단모음으로 분류되지만, 현대 한국어에서는 이중모음[we], [wi]로 더 자 주 발음되고 있다. 그래서 외[ ,we],위[ ,wi] 둘 다 허용하고 있다. ‘외[ö]’and ‘위[ü]’ are classified into the group of monophthongs, but they are usually pronounced like diphthongs [we,wi]. Therefore, they are also allowed as ‘외[ö,we],위[ü,wi]’.
