Teaching English as a second language to small childrenis always challenging for most of the teachers, because it requires an effort on having a lot of activities carefully planned to obtain the students attention to learn the new language. Even though,children can be easily distracted so the teacher must be prepared to handle the discipline in the classroom with different tasks that children are interested for example: games, songs, movies andpictures.
However, there are some schools in Latin America where class size is an issue because there are more than twenty students in a classroom making the mission of the teacher more difficult. Asa result the teacher cannot give all the students the attention they need; there is not enough teacher support for learning and not all the students in the class have the opportunity to participate.Therefore, it becomes tough for the teacher to treat the students individually and noticed the difficulties on the learning process. On the other hand, a large number of students makes complicated toidentify the level of learning of each student because of the children who have a higher level of English are those who generally participate most of the time and those who have lower level usuallystayed quiet and they constantly intimidated by the other students.
Moreover, a good solution to this problem is to divide the students in two smaller groups according their level of English. Eachof these two groups will have their own plan of study and the teacher can treat each student individually giving them all the support they need to learn the new language. However, not all the schoolsin Latin America can afford to pay two teachers for the same subject and the teacher have to find the correct methodology to teach English to a large number of children making sure that all the...
